There is much going on at Talton Mill these days! We hope you will enjoy reading our news and we hope to see you soon.
There is now a good selection of venison in the freezers including a whole boned haunch of 4kg and a whole fillet 15 inches long. Both would be a real ‘wow’ factor at a special function. We are over our shortage of chicken and will have plenty of medium size this week. Our Old Spot Pork is top quality and plentiful from now forward. We are open every Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Please call if you have a specific order request on 01789 459140.
We will shortly be announcing a run of ‘Butchery Experience Workshops’. If you have a particular interest in the provenance of meat, the industry and wish to gain some skills in butchery then watch this space for more information in due course or e.mail us to register your interest at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Friday 1st March sees the first of our Crafty Friday workshops taking place in the side section of The Mill Woodhouse. The Hemming Bird will be running her Sewing Workshop that morning. Bushcraft, Foraging and Eco-Therapy
We are delighted to be working with renowned outdoor specialist (Bsc Hons) and master herbalist Simon Birbeck to bring you a selection of bushcraft, survival, foraging and eco-therapy courses at Talton Mill. Simon has over 20 years experience in this field. Formerly a survival school co-ordinator who has worked with the Discovery Channel and The Bear Grylls Survival Academy and Young Survivor, Simon went on to set up UK Wild Adventures – the ‘go to’ company for experiencing the great outdoors!
All our workshops are suitable for both beginners and those with more outdoor experience.

Wood Carving Workshop
We will be launching our Wood Carving Workshops in April also. Learn the skills and techniques of the traditional art of woodcarving with experienced woodworker and craftsman of 40 yrs, Graeme Lawrence. Set out and carve a heritage design. Enjoy working with and understanding the properties of wood. You will be using very sharp chisels and gouges to safely create a finished piece. All materials and tools provided. Talton Mill Supper Club – is always a fun night out and we are delighted that so many customers return over and over again to these foodie nights. Our next Supper Club is on Friday 15th March at 7pm and our focus this time is on our Talton Mill home reared ham. The menu is as follows :
Talton honey roasted ham hock with a creamy Dijon sauce
served with dauphinoise potatoes and spring cabbage.
Lemon tart with rhubarb and honey compote
Coffee and a sweet treat to follow.

We are pleased to welcome Jack Turvey – guitarist and singer to Talton Mill who will provide you with some wonderful musical entertainment during the evening.
Our aim with our Supper Clubs is to celebrate what we produce here on the farm and to share that with you on the 3rd Friday of every month with our supper nights showcasing our home reared and home cooked produce in a variety of different ways. Party, Gathering or Special Occasion?
If you are looking for a venue to hold a special gathering, party, social event or workshop then The Mill Woodhouse is the perfect place. Liz and Fran are taking bookings for party sizes of 25 or more on a fully catered basis. We also have our mobile horsebox bar (The Straw Bar) available for your function.
