Whilst it has been cold on the farm, it is a pleasure waking up to the sunny frosty mornings with the mist rising from the fields.

Today Colin and I have been breaking down beef from our Sussex and Angus carcases ready for Christmas. Good butchering is considered a craft and so working with such quality material makes the work enjoyable. It is not too late to order some of this superb beef. Even with our limited opening hours of just Fridays and Saturdays we are confident of being able to offer the best chicken, pork and beef anywhere around.  We currently have fillet of beef, Sussex sirloin, pork in abundance, chickens, various roasting joints and gammons.  Our new hens are laying at their maximum – don’t miss out – they don’t do overtime!

Both the butchery and the Mill Woodhouse Cafe will be open over the festive period – Friday 22nd and Sat 23rd Dec and Fri 29th and Sat 30th Dec … so come along and enjoy a break from the pandemonium of Christmas!

Liz and Fran have been serving up some delicious winter warming ’Specials’ each week.  Pulled Pork in Brioche, Morroccan Beef Stew, Chicken and Tomato Casserole, Homemade Talton Beef Pies to name but a few.  They try to vary the Specials each week to offer a variety of tasty home cooked fayre.  They have been delighted, both with the response from our customers and the feedback … so thank you to all those that have visited, tried and tasted!  As ever the Talton Full English Breakfast still remains a firm favourite too!

Cider Tasting & Supper with The Ciderologist – Talton Mill Supper Club – Friday 19th January.

The countdown is on to the launch of our Supper Club in the Mill Woodhouse on Friday 19th January 2018. We have invited charismatic cider maker, international cider judge and global cider expert Gabe Cook to guide us through a tutored cider tasting and a short Wassail. Supper will be home reared slow cooked Talton pork and apple casserole with baked potato and greens followed by cinnamon spiced pear cake and cream, coffee and chocolates. We have been so pleased with the interest in the Supper Club overall and there are only a few tables left for our first event now so hurry and book if you are interested.
